New orders worth more than EUR 455 m in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Thailand: 3.7 kilometer long drainage tunnels in Hong Kong
Dec 05, 2008
HOCHTIEF - via its subsidiary Leighton and its participating interests - has secured new orders in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Thailand which are together worth more than EUR 455 million. The Al Habtoor Leighton Group is a member of a joint venture which has been contracted to design and construct the campus of the new Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.
The Zayed University campus comprises some 200,000 square meters of built-up area and will accommodate 6,000 students. The campus is designed to segregate male and female students, which requires the duplication of faculties and other student facilities. Work on the project will commence immediately and is due to be completed by mid-2011. The storm-water transfer project in Hong Kong is designed to alleviate flooding in Kowloon. Leighton Asia will build two drainage tunnels with a total length of 3.7 kilometers and an internal diameter of almost five meters. The project, which also includes other structures, is scheduled to be finished by 2012. For the Thai luxury resort and residential complex to be realized on the island of Koh Samui, Leighton Asia will construct 32 residential and 65 vacation villas on a location comprising more than 100,000 square meters of land.
